Trouble with teenage daughter. I am a single mother working in Dubai. My daughter was in boarding for sometime till I arranged things in Dubai. I got new job and accepted Dubai so that I can make more money. However , my daughter did not read this well. She feels I am abandoning her as I want to enjoy my life. She has become violent and disrespectful. She doesn not want to talk to me and if she talks it is hurtful and caustic.

It is common behaviour among teens to be violent because of hormonal changes their body is going through. Their anger is channelled more towards parents as they seeing them as a figure of authority that is to be denied. The support given by parents is perceived as authoritative rule against which they want to rebel. The way to approach this problem is to involve them in decision making. Make them feel like grown ups and capable of handling situation. Start small , involve them in every day decision making and then allow them to act independently. The more involved they are the more friendly they will be and less rebel or violent.
My sister is a teenage. I can't handle her. She yells back at everything. She feels I am controlling her. That's not true. I have just let things go. That's the best. She will understand when she has to.
